P Johnson Tailor’s Showroom: A Refined Option for New Yorker’s
Words Huw Bennett
“Never compete with others, never compare yourself to others and always make sure you’re having fun.” Patrick Johnson.
Welcome P.Johnson tailoring to SOHO, New York: Suiting updated through an emotive style adopted through travel and previous work and made unique in an almost peerless offering that updates age-old ideas and efforts into a modern two-piece costume.
After proclaiming a mission statement of helping Australian men dress better, American men now have another refined option awaiting them on the island of Manhattan where generational dressing to impress and smarts over casuals have always been the preferred attire.
Introducing an intimate and newly, original showroom into the busy shopping space of SOHO; Patrick offers a wind-down environment where locals and out of town fans can exchange the hectic city buzz for an experience inside a tailor made showroom garnished with cutaway collars, square cut tie’s and two button brilliance, enjoying the respite from their schedules.
The store designed by his wife Tamsin, who brought both the Melbourne and Sydney stores to life with the working idea of comfort anchored by beauty and interest, showcases photography by Bill Henson and Josh Robenstone, both of whom visit Patrick when in need of suiting. The Furniture is sourced from almost everywhere, with highlights from another Australian artist, Jonathan Zawada and sculptures sourced from within the USA.
The store’s focus is experience above all else, helping clients both new and old find the right one-off product or measure up for a custom piece. Patrick’s tailors, store-staff trained for years, champion the belief that face-to-face retail is the best way noting there is no desire to be the biggest, just the best.
Patrick offers up his preferred blueprint on life and style through meditation, self-awareness and consideration. A gentleman with a plan both specific and broad and one that fans of man watch as it gathers speed. New York come and see this great new offering and London perhaps you’re next.
